WHAT IS LONDON'S BEST KEPT DESIGNER SECRET? SOANE

With an eye towards architectural details and inspiration from 18th, 19th, and 20th Century originals, the brilliant Lulu Lytle and antique dealer Christopher Hodsoll started Soane, a custom furniture company in 1997. Utilizing the superb craftsmen in England, the British made collection of furniture, lighting, accessories and fabrics become instant classics-- the antiques of tomorrow. Their understated customer - first approach has made loyalists of the likes of David Easton, Michael Smith and McMillen. I first visited their 50 Pimlico Road shop over ten years ago, at the urging of my mother, Nancy Marcantonio of NHM Interiors. She said I have never seen anything like it, and boy, was she right. The line, with over 500 designs, merges unique stylistic influences and handmade craftsmanship in an unlimited array of finishes and customization, bringing the best of Britain to you.

Their pieces work in a variety of settings-- from minimalist to Art Deco

I LOVE Soane ever since I saw the Fireside chair in an old issue of World of Interiors. No surprise since I have also always loved Hodsoll McKenzie, whose fabrics I have covering several pieces in my house. Lucky you to have been to the shop - must be fabulous!! What do you think shipping is like?

This is a little after the fact, but the stag table is a very sculptural shape, and like Swedish Interiors, I was reminded of the beautiful antique table that Bill Blass owned.
