COZY CHIC NEW YORK RESTAURANT LA GOULUE IS CLOSING

Madison and 64th Street is near the three B's, Bergdorfs, Bendels, Barneys and the D and D Building-- the ideal meet up spot. La Goulue was always the perfect place to meet friends for a fun french dinner of haricots verts and tuna tartare. In the summer, you could sit outside for the best people watching. Sadly, the economic climate is forcing them to close after 36 years of business. It's the end of an era. You could always rely on spotting an interior designer or design- world friend at this upper east side see -and- be -seen boite. Fans will have to now head further uptown to the owner's other nice French bistro, Orsay for a truly French dining moment.

That's so sad. I live near the city, but I've never been and I love french food.

I hate to hear about all these closings.

I want to put my head down on the table and sob!
Why did I think La Goulou would live forever?

Because it was there for 40 or so years?

I did! The brass hooks.....the atmosphere? The whole world that was in there............I really did think it would live as long as I did!

It makes me really sick.

I am finding it hard to keep my optimistic little head above water!

Thank you, La Goulue for delighting me every time I came to New York.......2 or 3 rimes a year for 40 years...........thanks for wonderful meals and memories!

can you forward,,,,,,do they even get email......?

can you deliver the print out?

Gosh! I will hand-write it!

SOB!!!

Penelope
