STYLEBEAT NEWS: NINA GRISCOM'S NEW YORK SHOP IS CLOSING


There is a stretch along Lexington Avenue running from 69th to 74th Street that has become known as decorators mile. James Sansum Fine and Decorative Art at 1020 Lex, Todd Alexander Romano's shop at 1015 Lex (moved closer to the D and D and is now Bunny William's Treillage), Lexington Gardens at 1011 Lex, Cove Landing at 995 Lex, Palumbo at 972 Lex, and Mecox Gardens at 963 Lex made this stretch of shopping exciting, bringing it style from far and wide. Driven by great design, the area became a definitive stop on any chic connoisseurs shopping trip. Coffee at Sicafe, lunch at Swifty's, class at The New York School of Interior Design, and window shopping inspiration makes for a great afternoon. Well, times are changing, and Nina Griscom is shuttering her global bazaar of parchment desks, shagreen accessories and precious small decorative objects on October 1st. I hope the other purveyors can stay the course, we need you.
