The drums of change continue to beat as loud as ever over at 4 Times Square. With low circulation and dropping ad pages, which industry defining title is looking to make an editorial change after 35 years under the current stewardship? Does this now mean the magazine will change to target to a younger demographic? Stay tuned – we’ll know in 2 weeks time.
We should be so lucky.
ReplyDeleteAD has been completely irrelevant and almost totally lacking in class or style since the late-80s. Even as an "aspirational shelter" title, they lost all touch with any legitimate demographic decades ago, which made Conde Nast's decision to swap it out for Domino subscribers all the more insulting.
Fingers crossed.
My fingers are crossed.
ReplyDeleteI let my subscription lapse years ago. Someone tried to gift me with a subscription last year. I declined.
I actually tried to decline the substitution of my subscription to Domino. No reply.
ReplyDeleteAd has become a bit of a joke in the industry. Way overlit....way celebrity-driven! (John Travolta is a nice guy..but ....his HOUSE ??!!! With the plane in the carport???
EEEEEEEEEKK!!!!!!!!
Just one example. It needs to go in it's present form. It gets ickier by the month. YUK!!!

Dinosaurs become extinct for a reason & AD should have disappeared quite some time ago.
ReplyDeleteI feel the magazine industry needs to take a long look in the mirror & reevaluate itself. There are far too many titles & not enough substance.
