Color layered with more color is a sure bet in a Todd Romano interior. He recently created a room in the Lee Jofa showroom in the D and D in their rotating showcase area. He has a showroom down the street in the Fine Arts Building, but was asked to create the room since he is a long-time Lee Jofa client. Lime green and coral permeated the room which was alive with color. His vision, a dining room with a fireplace and banquette, was built out from scratch. High gloss walls were custom painted with Benjamin Moore color 2028-40 Satin Impervo and then lacquered to get a fantastic chartreuse finish. He incorporated beautiful reproduction furniture from Holland and Company at Lee Jofa with pieces from his showroom, creating a mini showhouse space.
A Semplice Chandelier in an antique gold finish hangs over the round Mahogany Dandy Dining Table with swirl mahogany veneer and banding. The dark table is made more youthful and less serious with melon suede upholstered New Royal Oak Dining Chairs that have cream colored legs.
Romano utilized the corner space with the Tavish Étagère. He created height by placing an orchid in a frog planter. A little something fun to make you smile! To balance out the color, a silk lampshade in lavender plays off the bright walls.
Another jolt of brights comes from a Marilyn Monroe print over the mantel. Matching blue and white ginger jars appear to float when placed on plexiglass columns, adding a touch of modern to the space.
The Carlton Banquette Sofa with a tufted back spans one wall in a broad velvet stripe. Romano used the space well by creating a seating area that occupies the entire wall. I love the mini pillows with rounded corners doubled up along the sofa. What a charming detail. The mix of stripes, bold solids and ikats make for a room that is fresh and traditional. The winter blahs go away just looking at this melange of color!
