Decoupage artist John Derian creates objects with charming old world designs and prints from his East Village shop that could work well on just about anything. He was asked to do a collection with stationer Dempsey and Carroll, and decided to go with the classics. His capsule collection follows those done with interior designer Celerie Kemble, event planner Bronson van Wyck, fashion designer Lela Rose and Schumacher fabrics. The Derian patterns are familiar to those that hoard his glass plates and paperweights, those that admire them from afar, and shoppers that frequent Target. Now they grace fine writing papers, making a statement in mail. I hope a wallpaper and fabric line are next....

I love it! What a great partnership!
ReplyDeleteHow very clever of Dempsey and Carrroll to align themselves with such modern tastemakers to update their iine. Darian is a great choice. I love the urchin set - fabulous. And I see they are finally doing easel calendars - I had called them when Mrs. Strong closed (which as you noted has since reopened) to see if they had any, which they didn't at the time - they clearly must have received many such calls.
ReplyDeleteSo charming!
ReplyDeleteLove the water lily design. It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLoving the designs! Great to see you for a moment yesterday!
ReplyDeleteGreat paper line!
ReplyDeleteIt is so funny, having just met you, that I ventured into your blog, which is fabulous by the way. I always loved the John Derian maze plates but never had a use for them. Now I can pick up the stationary instead. It was great meeting you at the D & D. I started a blog, literally, the week before. Love to know your thoughts;carriesdesignmusings.
ReplyDeleteTake care!
