MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU

This time of year, I think of one of my favorite children's books, Madeline. Ludwig Bemelmans charming illustrations capture the joy and wonder of Christmas in a sweetly nostalgic way, so every year I have holiday drinks at the Carlyle's Bemelmans Bar, surrounded by his painted murals. If you are in New York, toast the season there too!
Have yourselves a Merry little Christmas!

Merry Christmas! I love Madeline - but didn't know there was a Christmas book! Will be adding this my post-Christmas shopping list!

I also loved that book and read it to my daughters when they were young. A drink at Carlyle's Bemelmans Bar is one of my favorite things to do when I visit New York. I have been thinking of other classics like Truman Capote's "A Christmas Memory," "A Christmas Carol" by Dickens, and all the performances of "The Nutcracker" I've gone to at Christmas time. All these holiday traditions make for a magical Christmas.
