ART ARRIVES

When building a collection of artwork, every expert will tell you this first and foremost: follow your heart and buy what you love. Bearing that in mind, here are some creative ways to do just that-- online. Start looking, visit museums and local galleries and begin to develop an eye. After you get a feel for what you medium and theme you are drawn to, you are off and running. No matter what your budget, these Internet galleries have artwork galore. Kick off your collecting here:

Sweethearts by Jonathan Lewis is an archival pigment print

20x200, a Jen Beckman Project, brings affordable art to the foreground. Their "art for everyone" approach has served them well, as they are the darling of young hip interior designers everywhere. Tailor the work to your needs by choosing from 3 standard sizes, limited run editions, and framing options. At least two new editions are added a week, one photograph and one work on paper. Additionally, if you must have the original, it is also available. More about Jen: her lower East Side Gallery had been thriving since 2003. She has an epiphany one day, and her brilliant formula for selling art evolved to be 20x200, which, by way of explanation, means (limited editions x low prices) + the Internet = art for everyone.

Artaissance, an online art company owned by well - known framing company Larson Juhl offers artwork in a variety of sized on paper or canvas, and allows you to search by room type, artistic style, and artist. You can browse over 3,300 prints here. Read artist bios, and check out the try before you buy program. $5.00 gets you a printed 5.5” x 8.5” sample version of the artwork you have in mind, to try it out on the wall in the space you are considering it for. The cost of the sample will go toward the purchase price of the piece should you decide to buy it.

It is the go-to online marketplace for furniture, artwork, decorative accessories, jewelry and textiles that are sourced from dealers around the globe. Connect with dealers of unique vintage finds at approachable and aspirational price points in one click. The redesign features larger images, a hover tool showing essential information and additional product shots. The editorial platform, called inSTINCT on their DESIGNinTELL blog, has been newly designed, with a with a Q and A from designer and former Domino editor at large, Tom Delavan. InVALUABLE, a new feature on the landing page, shows a weekly round up of latest additions, highlighted by their experts.

Serena and Lilly have recently added a Bazaar on their website, where Serena scours the globe for fun and engaging works of art. Artists series were added last week, with a trove of works from established and emerging artists. From landscapes to abstract color field paintings, there is a lot to choose from. Transitions II, above, by artist AJ Oishi, was created in acrylic on canvas by dipping a pencil eraser into paint and applying varying degrees of pressure to the canvas. It comes in a metal frame.
