PRETTY POLISHED: ENTERTAINING WITH AERIN

With the holidays coming, the recently-launched home accessories collection from Aerin Lauder will enhance your gift giving and add a touch of sparkle when entertaining at home. Called Aerin, the collection is part of a larger lifestyle vision, and serves as a jumping off point for the beauty maven's home decor line that will include everything from tabletop to furniture. Her designs reflect the life she leads, as a modern Upper East Side dweller with children. "Estee was an incredible role model. She taught me the importance of passion, style, hard work, family and, of course, all things beautiful. Her dream to make women feel beautiful and special still lives on today. My vision is to create a beauty and lifestyle brand shaped for my generation and those to follow,"Aerin has said. A busy life, travel, work, entertaining, and being a mom has made her aware of the style all around her. Design elements come from favorite finds as well as exotic travels and can feel at home in the country and urban settings. Heavy on the metals, brass and gold-dipped finishes, price points on the accessories are on a sliding scale to create accessible luxury. I prefer the objects with textural elements as they tend to make more of a statement.  You can find her designs at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and her Aerin website where shipping and returns are gratis, so log on and pick out some sophisticated statement pieces.

When perusing the World of Aerin At Home section on her website, the passion she has for setting the table is obvious, as she mixes pretty and colorful elements through the seasons both indoors and out. Aerin's living room table serves as command central during the holiday season. Holding the contents of a bar, it makes congregating, conversation and cocktails easy. Sharing her must-have Fall Cocktail Party components Aerin shares, "Cocktail napkins are fun to collect. Some of my favorites are from D. Porthault and Lori Jayne Monogramming. I like napkins in darker hues for winter, and lighter floral prints for summer. For a well-stocked bar, I always have Macallan 12 scotch, Maestro Tequilero Tequila, Ketel One vodka, and Taylor’s 1985 vintage port. "

PRETTY POLISHED AND PACKAGED:

The decor assortment is made from a variety of luxe materials

A stylish cachepot of textured solid brass with a basketweave pattern sets off flowers beautifully. Over the years, Lauder's varied interiors have inspired a lust for luxe. Her accessories, down to the diminutive table lamps were always stunning.

Bringing the natural world in, an antler horn sculptural piece provides weight to a stack of books or a decorative element to a bookshelf

More of a splurge, the hand-painted porcelain Circle Bowl has a deco-inspired circle pattern and 18 karat gold finish

Porcelain dipped in gold yields glistening nesting bowls with flowery edges made in Italy

A solid brass leaf dish can be used for nick knacks or serving tiny snacks

A hefty brass orb makes a match striker functional and gorgeous. Lighting scented candles on a coffee table will become a stylish gesture when this piece is present.

Does the world need another scented candle? When it smells as natural and clean as Sky Flower does and is packaged in a simple thick glass vessel, then yes. Scented with my favorite trio of white flowers- gardenia, tuberose and jasmine-- it's a fail-safe gift.  Available on the Aerin website, you can also find the 6 scents at Leta Austin Foster Boutique in Palm Beach.

I am in general a bit more of a bargain shopper but some things are worth the investment as they are just so unique and you'll know you will have them forever!

That brass orb is just such a piece!

I love that is both a match striker and well...a sculpture. So very, very stylish and! so much prettier than ordinary match boxes!
