FANTASTIC NEW WALLPAPERS FROM KATIE RIDDER

If you have not seen them yet, here they are! New York interior designer Katie Ridder recently launched wallpaper seen here. It is just as fun, whimsical and color- fabulous as her interiors. You know her look by exotic accents, embroidered and architectural details with great color pairings. Her papers are available at Holland and Sherry in New York, DC and Chicago, and the newly opened Harbinger in Almont Yard in Los Angeles, that is owned by Lucas Studio's Joe Lucas and Parrish Chilcoat.
Are fabrics soon to follow? I really hope so.

GET THE FRESHEST, JUCIEST, FRUIT AND VEGGIES FROM PIE BIRD PRESS CARDS

Hannah Berman of Pie Bird Press paints food like few do. I am completely taken with her color pairing, shadowing and overall artistic perfection. The RISD trained graphic artist creates letterpress cards with tantalizing fruit, baked goods and summer vegetables that look good enough to eat. With a nod to fellow California artist, Wayne Tibault, known for painting luscious cakes and pie displays, her art is good enough to eat. Order delectable treats to send as thanks yous or wish you were here notes, from Wet Foot Publications. I hope she will make framed prints soon-- a food series in a country kitchen would be a tasty sight.

AFTER 30 YEARS OF GARDENING GREATNESS SMITH AND HAWKEN CLOSING

Where will gardener's go to make their garden grow? Smith and Hawken just announced that they are closing. Their website is already down and the retail stores, all 56 of them, will be liquidating over the next few months. Owner Scotts Miracle-Gro tried selling the brand, to no avail.

It takes some searching, but you may be able to hunt and gather to fill the void:

A place to find gardening delights as good would have to be Alta Tingle's Berkeley treasure since 1985, The Gardener. With stores throughout California and a great website, The Gardener sources beautiful objects and tools from around the globe.

The New York Botanical Garden Shop in the Garden is a really special shop filled with floral related jewelry, books, planters and more. Their website shows things beautifully, but it is hard to beat the experience of going there.

If you find yourself in Pennsylvania, Terrain at Styler's of Glen Mills is worth a trip. They offer landscaping services, a garden center, have a shop and adorable cafe. Anthropologie is behind Styers, namely John Kinsella, who has made this place a gem.

MARTYN LAWRENCE -BULLARD'S NEW FURNITURE AND FABRIC LINES

Exotic Suzani and paisley fabrics in rich reds and browns have become signature elements in LA designer Martyn Lawrence-Bullard's interiors. His style is one of a kind. The mix is part of the mastery. Being able to share his perspective led him to create a line of furniture and fabrics that captures the relaxed global look he does so well. He creates lush spaces that are filled with unique and diverse pieces of furniture, in painted and aged finishes, with Moroccan tiles and burnished metal lighting. By combining Turkish, Ottoman, Indian, and Moroccan finds, he creates a distinct cultural mix, that attracts a global clientele. Exotic woods, turned legs and inlays are used in his work, and this line offers his eclectic take to a wider audience. His work, furniture and fabric shown below tie it all together.

A cozy living room with deep reds, great modern artwork and free flowing panel curtains. His spaces are anything but stuffy.

Unusual shapes mix and mingle with tropical plants and pillar candles, setting the tone for an intimate party.

Stripes are a great choice when doing a tented room. For high drama, he covered every surface in bold red and white stripes, and added an ebony Lisbon bed from his collection.

By now you see how Bullard uses statement beds to great effect. Mixing grand European furniture, rich tapestries and an oriental rug, he creates a Grand Tour look. Using a dresser as a nightstand is a good idea to create extra storage, and adds a bigger surface for a lidded Chinese jar and decorative objects.

Exotic is the buzzword at this small dinner. A large lantern above the table and scattered tapers add moody lighting to a room dominated by red, which looks great by candle light. The patterned walls are toned down and grounded by the dark wood furniture.

Take me there! A summery living room in tones of blue and white is just what you want in an island paradise. A long built in sofa stretches the length of the room to capitalize on the view, and rustic tables and stools further the casual feel. You can wear a bathing suit and sarong in this room and feel at home.

MLB FURNITURE

The Lisbon Bed, like all the furniture, is made of high grade Alder wood. The line comes in custom finishes and can be ordered in distressed medium to dark walnut or ebony tones. This elaborate piece is jaw dropping. You will dream of exotic far away lands in this!

The Jaipur Bed in faux ivory makes a glamorous daybed for lounging. The canopy swathed in fabric would add to the allure.

The Fatima Mirror has a thick carved wood frame with a star pattern. The graphic motif will liven up a living room, and will work well hung in clusters of 4.

The Tangiers Side Table with faux ivory inlay is a personality piece. The pop of ivory and painted trim have a Moroccan flair.

MLB FABRICS

Sultan's Suzani in Saffron combines soft colors in a bold circular pattern.

Turkish Ticking in olive and terra cotta has an added zig -zag making this linen stripe even more graphic.

Bodrum's Greek inspired lavender scrolls cover the field in this all over linen print.

Bodrum Stripe in brown and sage combines stripes and small, curly scrolls.

Sultan's Garden in Saffron is a printed linen floral inspired by the Topkapi Gardens.

In blue.

His furniture is is shown online and in LA at Dan Marty Design in the PDC. His fabrics are online and at Peter Dunham's Hollywood at Home in Almont Yard and in New York at Holly Hunt in the D and D. Time for some armchair travel on your staycation!
