BELOVED NY ANTIQUE TROVE SENTIMENTO IS CLOSING

Photos courtesy of Sentimento

Some antique stores have a little magic in their mix. One such place, located in the Interior Design Building on East 61st, is saying goodbye. With the loss of Amy Perlin, it is sad to see another great shop in this building shutter.
Sentimento is closing after more than 30 years of selling the most elegant antique decorative accessories, lighting, mirrors objects, furniture and coveted pieces from the 18th century to the 20th centuries. Owner and founder the late Toby Landey and Barbara Kirshbaum traveled the world shopping for the store, and always had interesting architectural models, painted Italian pieces from the 1800's , incredible lighting and an assortment of decorative boxes on hand. I would always go in to browse and get loads of ideas-- the merchandising was done in beautiful and inspiring vignettes, often by color. Designers near and far will miss having Sentimento as a go to for inspiration anytime, but all is not lost.
Now is your chance to swoop in and get 20% off retail. If you are an interior designer you will get 20% off net from today until July 25th, when the markdown will be 30%. The the first week of August, the markdown will be 40%, and starting August 8th, the markdown will be 50%.
Barbara is not letting any grass grow under her feet. She will be opening BK Antiques, her own showroom in the same building with all new, fresh inventory by early September. She has gone on 4 shopping trips already and has merchandise waiting to come in, so it will be ready. Visit Sentimento soon, and try not to get too sentimental.

LULU DK DOES DINING!

Lulu DK's artist streak and creative verve continues with her new collection of tabletop designs. She began her artistic endeavors by creating a hand done fabric line a decade ago. The graphic geometric fabrics and wallpapers had a fresh sensibility that conveyed her artistic hand. They were a natural extension of her paintings, which she had been doing for years. Next came her beautiful acclaimed printed and embroidered collection of baby and grown up bedding for Matouk. A colorful leather furniture line with Elite Leather followed, and gave her visibility with a widely seen ad campaign, and a capsule collection of handmade Tibetan and Dhurrie carpets with San Francisco's Elson and Company gave her a way to bring color and pattern to floors. Then her collage book followed, exploring her paintings and travels called, Lulu. The foray into tabletop is a natural progression for her brand vision, and a welcome one. Her hand-drawn flowers and geometric watercolors have now make their way onto china. Their charm lies in how the boldly colored flowers and leaves cover the entire surface in a realistic, natural way. Entertain with and enjoy her nature inspired hand - painted pieces that bring a joie de vivre to the table. Find this new collection with all the patterns shown here at Neiman Marcus and Horchow.

SUMMER IS SHORT. MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT

Photos courtesy of The Printery
I have a thing for stationery and paper goods in general. The Printery scratches that itch for me. Everything they create is elegant, refined and releatable. If you are a bit old school and like to have a calendar in front of you as well as on your computer, then here is a deal you won't want to miss. The Oyster Bay LI - based Printery is offering their hand - engraved desk calendar refills for half off. If you already own the easel stand from other calendars you have had in the past, great. If not, you can frame these cards and place them on your desk to create a pretty addition. The gold foil motifs are really beautiful and will add a shimmery surface to your desk, as well as help you count every day with style.

Choose from bright white or ecru stock.

WHITE HOT SUMMER WHITES

With the hot weather finally here, white feels right. You may want to don your tennis whites or white jeans daily because they make you feel so put together.
From wardrobe to decorative accessories, the crisp, cool, feel of white makes everything light and airy. Mix it with pops of orange and turquoise for an instant jolt or use it alone for simple serenity.
