PENNY MORRISON'S BRITISH BLOCK PRINTS

When Claremont feted British interior designer Penny Morrison and her new fabric line last fall, I saw the fabrics and was instantly smitten with their joie de vivre, charm and versatility. Morrison has been designing classic interiors and small hotels in England and around the globe for the past 30 years. The fabrics came from a love of pattern, and the chance to share a vision. Their ethnic feeling and sophisticated palette of jewel tones is unique. The prints join the other fabric lines in the blockprint movement Carolina Irving, Lisa Fine, Pintura Studio, John Robshaw, Kathryn Ireland, Rose Tarlow early adapters Robert Kime and Michael Smith.

STYLISH TRENDS: ITS ALL ABOUT MINI FLORALS

The Kate Spade store on lower 5th Ave. with the back wall covered in a jaunty floral wallpaper.
For the past few months, every where I look, I am seeing tiny floral prints. Spring is always welcomed with floral blooms, and each season the trend differs. One year it is huge, stylized flowers, the next it it natural, hand rendered artistic blooms. However they are done, flowers and spring are perennial favorites.

Verdant Acres Dinnerware with anemones and poppies from Anthropologie has a watercolor effect that I adore. These were introduced last year and I am glad they are back.

AMY PERLIN, YOU WILL BE MISSED

House and Garden called her the treasure seeker and that she was.

Amy Perlin was known for her unbelievable unerring eye for antiques. She began in Bridgehampton and became the go to resource for incredibly unique and quirky 17th, 18th, and 19th Century Continental furniture and decorative objects with that loved, aged, rustic lived- in look. Her 10,000 square foot showroom space at 306 East 61st Street was artfully arranged with a display of finds, often eclectic, out sized, dramatic pieces from across all corners of Europe. She passed away, and her loss is great. The interior design community hopes her legacy will live on and Amy Perlin Antiques will continue to thrive.

The treasure trove:

OSCAR DE LA RENTA HOME WILL BE GROWING...

Oscar de la Renta's furniture collection with Century Furniture was launched several years ago. Last year, new additions were created, many of the pieces were upholstered in his signature lipstick red. Headed up by creative director Miles Redd, Oscar home collections have been designed with Lunt for silver and home accessories, and rugs with Elson and Company. Always keeping good design in mind, they mixed materials like mother of pearl, turquoise and ebony, used rubbed finishes and small repeats for upholstery. The furniture inspiration comes from his homes in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, his New York apartment, and his Litchfield Connecticut home. This fall, he expands into the world of luscious home fabrics with a new collection with Lee Jofa.
