IT'S PEHR MON CHER

In the summer, entertaining is all about keeping things simple and stress free. I came across this great new source, Pehr, at the Gift Show, and it reminded me that it is possible to set the table with ease. Made of a cotton/linen blend, this Canadian - designed, India - made line of napkins, mats, runners and tea towels is tightly edited. Comprised of small patterns in great colors, they are easy to use and made for mixing and matching. This way, your table will reflect your vision and no one else's!

Their display was minimal and showed how the patterns can all work together.

Graphic and inflected with an ethnic sensibility, the design is part 1970's part classic block printing.

SEASIDE FROLIC

Summertime, and the living is easy. Here are a few charmers with seaside motifs to bring some all American red, white and blue hues to your sunny days.

As you can tell, I have a thing for tote bags, there are just so many great bags out there that are worth loving. This crisp navy and white canvas number from Milly is on sale at Saks right now, and boy, am I tempted.

If you want to go with the fish motif and take it outside, check out this school of Snappers pillow from West Elm. I love the traditional block printing technique with the fresh pattern, and the fabric is water resistant.

Hand painted seaside motifs capture summery charms like Sandpipers, anchors and sea creatures in Linda and Harriet's sweet notepads in red, white and blue.

Want to say thank you for a memorable weekend? Linda and Harriet's July offering is a limited edition set of six cards with letterpress sailboats all in a row.

Choose from red and grey or blue and grey.

NEW FABRICS FROM HB HOME

Summer is here, well not officially, but almost. Why not add some summery touches at home?
HB Home has recently rolled out a wonderful collection of brightly printed fabrics. They kicked off their collection designs with furniture with Kindel, which I showed awhile back. The HB Luxe fabric collection, made of 100% Belgian linen, has a charming and graphic sensibility that incorporates florals and quatrefoils. I prefer the small block print repeat patterns, since they can work on upholstery, window treatments, pillows and beyond. They have a summery feeling and the color combinations help create a scheme to work around in a room. If you happen to be in Long Island, they are opening at 32o Wheatley Plaza in Greenvale, adding to their NYC, Westport and Greenwich CT, and East Hampton shop locations.

THE RUGS:
Another great addition, HB Home has started carrying a collection of cotton dhurrie rugs that add a casual ease to city and country settings.

A large scale Moorish looking flourish creates a strong graphic element on this rug.

A crisp bold awning stripe is a sure classic.

A zig zag diamond pattern brings pattern into a scheme.

An abstracted tight pattern can look like an animal print or a punchy organic pattern.

Intersecting star and geometric patterns pack a punch.

HOLLYWOOD AT HOME PART II

Interior designer Peter Dunham's Hollywood at Home California comfortable empire is expanding along La Cienega. He recently opened a shop in one of the best storefronts for his furniture, so he occupies 724 and 750 N. La Cienega Boulevard. A few spaces down from his other location, which I covered on Stylebeat here, the new locale is filled with his furniture designs as well as his accessories. With all of Peter's livable locations, this one also raises the question, "When can I move in?"

The bay windows face La Cienega and the back opens onto a courtyard. I love LA.

Peter moving in.

Framed wood block prints, an indigo striped rug and solid sofa with a mass of printed ethnic pillows say comfort central.

You may recognize the leaf patterned fabric shown here, it became a Peter Dunham fave years ago. The soft palette and finishes are wonderful because nothing screams "I am glaringly brand new."

Take your pick- pillows, accessories and chairs await.

If you need it now, you can buy off the floor, but you can also order com and have it made. Aren't the green lanterns cool?

With Peter, it is all about the mix- weathered finishes, textural rugs, striped and printed fabrics, pottery and glass lamps are displayed throughout.

This chaise is just waiting to be lounged in. The nice girls that work there get to enjoy the courtyard!

An accessories moment: patinated finishes and a colorful ikat shade.

Time for a tete a tete.

The casual cozy combinations in the store is what makes it so appealing.

Abstract art work and a rough hewn table and benches look great together.

And let's not forget the great vintage books he has too.
