STYLEBEAT NEWS: ANOTHER LOSS- AFTER 32 YEARS SOUTHERN ACCENTS IS CLOSING

Time Inc. announced today that it is shutting down Southern Accents Magazine. The staff, based in Birmingham, Alabama, produces a magazine with a loyal following, covering elegant interiors and lifestyle stories throughout the South. This is another big loss for the shelter category, and the industry as well. One less outlet for great homes, Southern dealers and shops. At least Time, Inc. made a smart decision when it decided to continue the magazines website, at www.southernaccents.com.
The last issue will be September/October 2009.

It is just such a debacle for the design magazines, with lack of advertising and high costs. i was so upset after Western Interiors as we knew it closed, one of my project was being photographed the day House and Gardens shut their offices.... then Domino which had a great point of view. I am now doing the Met Home/Showtime Showhouse which will open on September 10th in Tribeca and am so incredibly thankful to still be part of the magazine/design world as a designer and running furniture showrooms,we all need to hold on tight. BTW love your blog
