GIFT SHOW GREATS: EARLY AMERICAN INFUENCE

Walking the Gift Show over the past few days, I am still seeing the influence of early American antiques and aged finishes. From spindle details to the way artwork and accessories are painted, the feel is Americana. Companies are looking to the past to move forward. The aged aspect is comforting and easy, and the pieces integrate well with many antiques because they then look like they have been there forever. This is one of many trends I saw at the show, stay tuned for more soon!

Mr. Brown's brown and white marbleized bulls eye mirror has a wonderful fresh look with the paint swirls in chocolate and brown

Bobbin chairs in a fresh white finish from Julian Chichester celebrate a classic form and are extra comfortable with a bolster head pillow

A Dunes and Duchess turned wood standing lamp in a natural finish has a little flair at the top with the radiating arms

A turned two arm sconce in a fiery coral red from Dunes and Duchess embraces traditional design taking it up a notch with color

A turned wood spindle lamp from Barbara Cosgrove with a bright yellow painted shade for a pop of color reminds me of a banister or great four poster bed detail

Hand painted pieces from Spicher and Co's Kolene Spicher have a wonderful early American style, from the birds and urn to the composition

Another white and blue towering floral arrangement in an urn with large handles is full of charm

A patchwork fabric covers a cerused wood bench at Vagabond Vintage feels old and yet fresh at the same time

Great coverage of the show. We LOVE Barbara Cosgrove and the painted shades. Can't wait for these to arrive in the shop.
Thanks!
